The Latest and Greatest
(and sometimes random things)
I'm working on!

One... year... later...
How the world has changed! As we enter into the "new normal" of masks in public, limited interaction, and trying to create new ideas of ways to stay connected - Wild Lilac Designs is here for you!
You can host a "safer at home" Paint Party! For a Family Fun Night or a small group of friends we come to you, masked up, ready to have fun.
We are booking parties again (boy did we miss them!) please use the contact link or email us directly at WildLilacDesigns@yahoo.com.
In the meantime... you can now find WLD at the MainPlace Mall in Santa Ana! That's right, Susan joined with Open Market OC in their new "north" campus of the MainPlace Mall in the old Nordstrom Building. There are some awesome vendors there and we are thrilled to be a part of it. The official "opening" is February 27th - stay tuned on our Facebook page for more info.
March 20, 2020
The world is changing daily. We are definitely in unprecedented times. A month ago we couldn't have predicted how different our lives would be today.
Small businesses, restaurants, schools, everything looks different. We are currently living in the middle of a worldwide pandemic and it's... strange. I still wake up in the mornings and have my coffee, but now I work from home (Susan has had that luxury for a few, she has her carpenter home with her now!) and my kids are hanging with me.
At this time WLD would like to say "thank you" for everyone who is still supporting small businesses. If you would like to purchase a custom design, a stencil-to-go, a DIY kit (coming soon!), or pre-book a party for the Fall (playing it safe) or Winter, we would love to know that business is coming.
In the meantime, we love all of you, stay safe and healthy.

January 2020,
That was the longest January ever. I'm not alone in saying that. It seemed to  drag.
Now that we've finally gotten past it - it's time to look ahead!
Did you know you can book your parties months in advance?
Seriously. If you want to book a December date and make it the event of the year that no one will miss (because it's been on everyone's calendar since February!!!)!
GO FOR IT!
Parties in July?
A random girls date brunch paint party? Yes! Get them on the calendar now and get the exact day and time you want.
Did we mention FUNDraisers?
You can do those too!
I love planning ahead.
Happy 2020 everyone!

X Summer
X Back-to-School
    Decorate (?) for Fall
    Halloween... costumes... candy?
    Plan Thanksgiving (am I hosting?)
Christmas Shopping (how many kids do I have again?)
Alright, so the original plan of things will "get back to normal once the kids are back in school" isn't going as smoothly as originally anticipated. There's still a lot to do. Luckily I've got help! And you do too! While my hubby is getting grungy pulling skeletons from rafters (honestly, that's where we hide the Halloween decor) I can check-in with mom, aka Susan of Wild Lilac Designs, to get some awesome fall decor that won't freak out the neighbors. Have you seen the ever-so-adorable AND reversible all things fall pumpkin? Love it! And those little houses, technically - the way I decorate - those won't ever get put back. Check out the [Shop Here] section in the menu to order your customizable little house for you or someone you like (enough). Meanwhile I have got to let her know when I want to have my Holiday Paint Party. Always a good time with friends before the craziness of the Christmas season grabs us. Before you know it - Happy New Year!

See?!? I wasn't joking. Hubby sent me this to let me know he was getting things ready.

What happened?!? All of a sudden it's MAY!!!! I think I blinked and missed Spring... good thing we still have this rain to ease me into summer. WLD had some amazing Look What I Can Do Paint Parties this last spring - so a great big THANK YOU! to everyone who hosted one.
You guys rock!
We had some super busy weekends, and even weekdays - class parties, business team building, dance team fundraisers. We love being busy and meeting new people and visiting with old friends... not saying you're old... just... appreciated. :)
We were also asked back to be involved with the Riverside Arts Market - which is always tons of fun. AND WLD is now featured in the Riverside Museum store, check out all the awesome Rain Cross stuff there! We even have select items now at California Citrus State Historic Park.
We still take personal orders. We are still booking parties. We will be here and there (meaning Texas) the end of June/early July, but we will always be online and ready to book your party! Start planning now for those end of summer bashes, back-to-school events or fundraisers, heck, even Christmas parties can be booked! Why not prioritize your party by getting it on everyone's calendar NOW!?!
Thanks again to everyone for all your continued support!

New Year, new you! Not really, no. Same old me. But I'm ok with that. I'm good. How about you? We had a wonderful holiday season with lots of family, and way too much food. We've already hit the ground running, stocking up those favorite sellers at Made. in downtown-ish Riverside, and booking parties. In case you didn't see it, we will be out of town February 8th-16th. March dates are really popular, so jump on in when you have a date! And with every district having different Spring Breaks, those day-time parties (where you want to invite some kiddos) can be on a week-day! We are flexible with the booking dates and times, so send us an email, or use the contact us form above! Let's plan some parties!

It's the most wonderful time of the year! (Now that the song is stuck in your head all day...) We've done it again! We have signed up to be a vendor at the annual Riverside Festival of Lights. If you haven't been, it truly is something to see. Over a million lights on display all around The Mission Inn in downtown Riverside. We will be along the arts walk. Bring some cash, there's hot chocolate and other fun things to purchase. We will be displaying some one-of-a-kind designs, and some fan favorites. You can also stop by just to chat, or even plan your next paint party! Whatever the reason, you should come by. It's just tons of fun.

FUNdraisers, Fall designs, and back-to-school planning!
What is it about August and September, that the back-to-school craziness always seems to surprise us?!? Inquiring minds want to know. It happens every year. We have been busy "finishing" up our summer plans. We had a great FUNdraiser for Ferguson's Competitive Dance Team (Check out the pics on Facebook!). It was so fun to hang out, teach, and laugh with these girls and moms as they painted. Some amazing creativity (as always) and they earned money at the same time! If you or someone you know is suffering from fundraiser-phobia, send them our way. We can help.
FALL IS HERE! Someone, please notify the weather. It may still be a glorious 80+ degrees and while not "officially" fall yet, it's school season so it's fall. We have some new designs, they're totally cute, check out our Design Gallery.
We were also a vendor at the California Citrus State Historic Park 25th Anniversary Fair. It was amazing! We had such a great time, met a lot of fantastic people, and the weather was California perfect.
Back-to-school. Also, we do school group paint parties. Did you know? They're tons of fun too! School groups, PTAs, Scouts, Church groups, whatever group, for whatever reason, it's always a great time. Book those holiday dates now! ...because people get busy, but if they have it in their calendar it's something to look forward to.

Hey Riverside peeps! Have you seen the new tote bags and t-shirts? They're totes cute. (See, Mom, I told you I would use it!) There are also tumblers, wine glasses, other glasses, alcohol ink trays, and more all with our beloved Raincross Design. Buy them here or go check out one of our favorite vendors Made. Shop Riverside or Embellished Nestings.

Christmas is coming! No joke, it's now less than 6 months away.
And even though we're working on our summer road-trip shirts (yes, we can also do HTV for small order shirts, totes, and other fun stuff!) we are already planning and designing some awesome seasonal stuff. Check your calendars and book your parties now before everyone gets too busy! Your best bet is to rock those Christmas designs before December 24th. September is good. It's never too early to start.

I like Big Parties and I cannot lie!
Wild Lilac Designs had their biggest party to date this last Saturday. And we are beyond thrilled with how everything went! 76 people! Yep. 76 painters, 1 Susan, 6 assistants, a microphone and lots of running around. We were tired but happy by end. All the painters left with their own, one-of-a-kind sign, and a smile. Now we know we can do it! Who is next? Sign up for that party you've been putting off.

I like my lines like I like my fries - CRISP!

I tried a new technique. I think I like it. Once I put my stencil down, I squeegee over it with my base coat. I know, right?!? What this does, is creates a barrier so that when I put my design colors over it, there's no bleeding of colors. I'm pretty jazzed.
Off to clean more pink paint off my carpet. (Unrelated to the new method, I'm just klutzy.)

The "Hot Mess" Technique

I know, it sounds like something you can really identify with. I know I can. Especially mornings, before I do my hair. But I digress. I saw a friend of mine work this method so I had to try it; after a few guesses, I owned it! I made it my own, and I now love it! It challenges me to think outside my normal happy box (where everything is even and there are lines to follow.) It involves lots of colors and creating, literally, a hot mess on my board, then applying the stencil as a mask and covering most of my mess up, but the results are worth it. If you'd like to book a party specifically to learn this new technique, just send me an email or text. It's fun!
